I think for this one you're on the right track but still, a little bit off, at this point Toews is a negative asset. were we to trade for him Hoffman alone would work for Toews and some mid-late round pick (think late third to early fifth). toews has a cap hit of 10.5 mil for another year, whereas Hoffman is only making 4.5 in that same time. tank commander Hoffman, somehow, is more effective on ice than Toews. To send Petry AND dvo in return for Toews warrants more than just a second-rounder, closer to maybe the 23 first or even 24 first-rounder and second-rounder. I see what you're thinking and I like the process here; taking on cap to increase the number of assets you receive is a great way to rebuild, but the value on this one is just a little out of whack.
