I don't think Ottawa is getting a heavy hitter. Wouldn't be surprised if they ended up signing Dylan Strome if he ends up non qualified by Chicago. Wouldn't be thrilled trading for him, but if all he costs is a contract there's a lot of value there for Ottawa.

Hopefully the cup final ends in 4 or 5 so we can hurry up and find out how things shake out.

I don’t think something like that is going to contribute to winning. We need to go after Dubois/Debrincat and Carlo/Murphy. We have the pieces to make deals rn . We shouldn’t wait any longer

in a cap world top prospect have enormous value sometimes even over established players that ELC is golden.

if you believe that JBD or Thomson is gonna become a 2nd pair D, why not just wait for them to develop? I wouldn't give up this package for any player not named McDavid. Although the 7th and Pinto for Dubois would be a nice deal, gives them options at C

Idk if I’d do both those pieces for Dubois. He’s more of a 55-60pt player who will play LW on our team and take some draws for Stutzle. I’d do Formenton and the 2022 1st tho

We could use all those assets and split them to get both our Top 4 RD and our high end forward .

PLD/Debrincat and Carlo

In my opinion, the Top 4 RD is a much higher priority than the Top 6 forward, given (a) the ability of Shane Pinto to play RW with Stutzle, (which would allow us to fill in behind with a UFA 3C like Nic Paul, or offer sheet Nic Roy?) and (b) the imminent arrival of Ridly Greig.
Re: the Top 4 RD, I think McAvoy's surgery means there is little chance to secure Carlo this off-season. There is a good chance to acquire Dumba if the Wild keep Fiala, and no chance if they do not. The most realistic target is probably Scott Mayfield, who is in the last year of his contract and playing behind Pulock and Dobson. I think there is a deal there if we offer to swap the two 1st rd picks (7th for 13th) and give them Brannstrom and JBD (Mayfield's replacement).
