Thank you for that nasty and stupid comment! That was exactly what I asked for! But in all seriousness, Barrie ticks a lot of boxes for Montreal because he could quickly fix its atrocious powerplay and scores more than Jake Evans.

In all seriousness, the reason you may have gotten nasty comments from Montreal fans is that Barrie ticks almost no boxes for Montreal. He'd probably marginally help the PP, but he's not going to do much without actual difference makers on the roster.

He's an overpaid veteran PP specialist who has already been/will soon be passed by Bouchard. Edmonton wants his salary off the books for the next 3 seasons. But Montreal is rebuilding, they aren't going to be looking for veterans to help them improve marginally in the present, especially if the cost is futures or cap space they don't have. Montreal also doesn't benefit from recapture with Keith if he retires since he didn't play for them. And it sounds like Keith doesn't intend to retire.

Honestly, Montreal acquiring Keith as one year as a veteran if Petry gets traded makes more sense than Barrie. They'd ask Edmonton for something or would send salary back the other way, but at least he's a veteran leader that only has one more year on his contract.

Habs would like Barrie but for Hoffman instead. They are the same type of player on the same deal. Just different positions

Oilers are flush with wingers. They need cap space and draft picks.
