Blow it Up

Description
If Bergeron retires, trade away vets and players who won't resign. Without Bergy AND missing Marchand and McAvoy to start the year, the Bruins will suck regardless of whether or not we move guys this offseason. Time to start a retool, which may turn into a deep rebuild.

We'll need certain players to start the year, but expiring deals such as Craig Smith, Nick Foligno, Tomas Nosek, Erik Haula, Chris Wagner, and veteran players with term such as Taylor Hall, Matt Grzelcyk, and Linus Ullmark could be moved at the deadline for picks and prospects (OBVIOUSLY not all of them, but some of them.

I've seen a lot of Pasta to New Jersey trades on here, so I opted to look for a different team. I landed on Nashville, who has the cap space and assets to make a deal. They are also looking to contend, so Pasta goes a long way to helping their offense.

The deal I've seen the most is Holtz (first round pick), 2 OA this year, a B prospect and a second. This deal is 17 OA, upgrade a second to a 2023 first, and two Low A/strong B prospects. Bruins fans (and Press fans), let me know if you'd be happy with this deal. Again, I am fully aware that the NJ package of Holtz, 2OA + is more appealing in terms of big name value, but I think that this would be equally helpful for a retooling team down the line.

This deal would come with extension.

This deal only happens with the Oilers if Evander Kane does not resign. Otherwise, it would be some other team, likely the Canucks, Kraken, or Flames.

DeBrusk isn't worth a first round pick with that cap hit and his enigmatic play...To pull that first rd pick, eat half salary.

Late first/early second should be his value. 25 goal scoring 25 year old that can play either wing. And has a very reasonable cap hit with 1 extra year of term beyond 2022-23.

I would think Hall would request a trade if the Bruins rebuild.

Most likely. A deadline move would be my best guess.

Marchand and McAvoy will stay unless they request to be moved. Foligno won’t be worth much of anything. Hall would be moved at the deadline, for a 2023 first and a solid prospect. (Maybe 2023 first and O’Rourke/Khusnutdinov from Minnesota or a similar package from some other team looking to win now)

I do hope Bergeron comes back for at least one more year. He's one of my favourite players of all time.
I do like the idea of a full tear down for fun, but you're right Marchand and McAvoy stay until they ask out

Agreed. It’ll be a sad day when Bergy decides to call it a career. To answer more of your prior question, Haula would be moved at the deadline for a 2023 second or third. Craig Smith would garner a similar package, but could be worth as little as a fifth depending on the season he has. Grzelcyk could be moved for a second as well. Ullmark, depending on success in 2022, could be worth as much as a first.

I don't know that Poile would shell out what it would take to get Pastrnak. Given the success he previously had under John Hynes, Hall might be someone NSH has interest in.

The only way Edmonton doesn't re-sign Kane is if they don't have the cap space. In that case they aren't going to be able to make this trade either.
