I dont think it was a comment of reaching the cap floor, more so an angle of they have money to play at the top of the FA market for guys like Gaudreau or Giroux, and trading for Murphy with 4 years at a decent cap hit is a better option than most FA options assuming Letang stays in Pittsburgh.

Not going to pretend like I know much about Ducks prospects, so im not going to comment on value, but I think looking at what the rangers did with signing Panarin and taking Trouba from Winnipeg while building with their own youth is a good model for future success and the Ducks have the pieces to do it.
