There's not a great match between the two teams. Raty had an Anton Lundell-esque season in Liiga this year and is already in North America, so you might be seeing him in the NHL as early as next year and the Islanders shouldn't want to trade him.

The next-best prospect is a big drop off - maybe it's Simon Holmstrom? 21 years old, 12-31-43 in 68 GP for an AHL coach that notoriously can't develop forwards, so there seems to be a spark there. But I think then you upgrade the pick to the Isles first, which is a whole other bag of worms (they probably shouldn't be trading a 1st when their farm system is this barren.)

Disagree. They're still in win now mode. At 13th overall, they're most likely in a spot where the best case scenario is maybe in 5 years the guy they pick turns out to be as good as Fiala. Personally, I'd take the bird in the hand and trade that pick for him.

On the other hand, depending on what Fiala is looking for contract wise it may not be worth it if they can't move out some contracts (Varly, Bailey, etc.) and signing Fiala hamstrings their ability to upgrade at LD2 & LD3.

Dylan Strome will get at least 4 or 5 years. he's not signing in Minnesota for only 2 years.

IMO the Isles should hold onto their prospects and draft picks. Make a trade for a young lefty d man like Heinola or Stanley if possible. Unless they get Johnny hockey they aren’t in a position to make win now moves.

Adding Fiala would help them but they have to pay Dobson this summer, and Barzal gets a raise next off season. I think fans have to be patient and recognize this team is gonna have to retool over the next couple years to compete.
