UPL will be the backup, if Sabres need 3rd goalie vet - Craig Anderson would be the guy.
Samuelsson - Dahlin will be top pair, so there is no point trading for both Clifton and Bear. I have no idea who would fit Owen Power better between them and Jokiharju.

Vanecek is worth probably a 2nd maybe a third. I expect him to sign for $2 million or less.

Eller is worth a 3rd or a 4th.

Caps would decline and you signed Vanecek for 2-3x his value.

Samuelsson Dahlin will not be the top pair. Yeah I get it, Dahlin played 10 mins on the right side, didn't look out of place, so now thats the top pair for life. Samuelsson isn't a top pair guy and Dahlin offers way more from the left.

Jokiharju is A**, clifton at least is good defensively and Bear has a ton of upside.

Eller is still a good third line center, however he is regressing.

At 3.5 mil? not a chance. And its still a 2nd rounder going the other way with a 4th coming back (does that really break the franchise?)

He might not be a huge net positive at his cap hit but he's not a net negative either, which makes it not a cap dump. He could fetch a late rounder from some team or at least be a salary offset in a separate trade. Just because those picks don't break the franchise doesn't mean the deal makes sense.

The deal frees up cap space and gets them a 2nd rounder in what is perceived to be a strong draft class. I mean if someone beats that its fine I get that its possible but I don't believe the value is off. Looking at his analytics, he doesn't help drive possession and is hurting the caps in his own end. Can't imagine anyone would be quick to give up an asset for that kind of production at 3.5 mil.

I'm personally not a fan of Eller's game, I just think perception around the league doesn't see him as a cap dump. Probably not worth the argument though haha

Samuelsson - Dahlin played couple games in late season, and they looked good. Again, the plan is to have them together as top pair, and look for defensive minded vet partner for Power, who will be better than Jokiharju.

I am not against trading for Bear or Clifton, since those proposal trade are really cheap in assets, but finding playing time would be and issue.
