Colorado gets what's essentially a late 1st this year in return for their 1st next year. This trade can be with anyone who doesn't have a 1st this year (in case theres a prospect they really like who fell out of the 1st round)

In what world is Josh Anderson, an AHLer and a 3rd worth the 7th overall pick?

1st in 2023, so not 7th, changed my post but Josh is not worth a lottery pick, may not be worth a 1st round pick at all

Veleno is already a massive overpay for that, Let alone a potential top 10 pick in the deepest draft in over 20 years.

No way Detroit moves its bedard 1st round lottery ticket for a 36 yearold defenseman.

Arguably makes it worse. An unprotected 2023 1st from a prohected non playoff team is worth more than a guaranteed 7th overall pick

They are still over valuing Petry. I really feel bad for the rational Montreal Fans who up with all this nonsense because most don't realize it's just a small group of Montreal fans that massively over value their players.

The only Montreal piece Ottawa would be ready to move its 2022 OR 2023 1st round pick is Cole Caufield

And even then, I'm not even sure as they don't seem to like smallish guys much. And after having had Mike Hoffman for years, not big fans of unidimensional guys too

They would also move it for Suzuki (then trade him elsewhere) or the 2022 1st OA pick but these aren't happening as well.

Just forget it

It depends on the quality of the draft class too. There is prospects like Bedard, Michkov and Fantilli (who each would go 1st OA EASILY in 2022). 2023 first round picks will only be traded for a freaking good reason

Josh Anderson and his contract is NOT one.

Dallas declines. 2023 draft class is already being billed as one of the deeper classes in recent memory. Stars are trading a potentially top-15 pick next year for a mid-20’s pick this year? Yeah, easy decline from Dallas

Apparently this year's class is deeper, while next year has more top-end talent
