It just depends does he want the 8th year in Calgary? I’m guessing he doesn’t or he would have signed it already

I don’t know what Gaudreau wants to do, I’m just saying for the isles he’s one of the only players it makes sense to sign if he’s willing

LD and G leave a lot to be desired here. I hope Dobson's bridge comes in at a lower number.

2 out of the past 3 seasons Cole has had a good two way impact. He can make plays at both ends of the ice. I would obviously prefer a better defenseman but Cole is a lot better than Leddy despite Leddys puck moving abilities.

We need a puck mover. This team can’t even consider itself a cup contender without getting one. Wouldn’t mind Cole, we’d need someone else then

The isles really don’t have the luxury of keeping Varlamov , unless they want to keep him and miss the playoffs. Give Sorokin a bigger workload, just like Tampa does with vasy.

There’s no reason for Dobson to take less, he’s a young star who just had an elite season at 22 YO. I don’t think there’s a defenseman who put 50 pts at Dobson’s age who’s taken less than 5 mill.

I'd be thrilled to get Dobson at $4m. Even if that meant shaving a year off the deal. Lou's deals for Pelech and Pulock came in way better than expected. Noah will make plenty of money over his career. I guess end of the day it is every man for himself but it started to feel *almost* like guys are willing to take a discount to stay here and build a more competitive roster, like Boston.

Kulak is a very good puck mover , I would prefer him to Cole but I think he stays with EDM. I don’t think the isles desperately need a puck mover, they just need two average two way defenseman and they should be good.

Like I said in the description, if they don’t sign Geaudreau , the window will be closed shut. No one else puts them over the top.

Agreed on the Gaudreau part but they need to get into o-zone more

4 mill is asking him to take a 1 mill discount, that’s not fair to him when the isles just paid Ross Johnston 1.1 mill to be an extra and Pageau/Palmieri make 5 mill in middle 6 roles. Those guys didn’t take discounts.

If Pelech would have put up the numbers he did this year last season, he would have gotten over 6.5 mill. Points get defenseman paid. Pelech defenitley would have gotten 6-6.25 mill as a UFA so he did take a discount , but only about 500k. Pulock around 500-700k. Dobson’s agent will definitely use Werenski and Dahlins contract as comparables because that’s what Dobson’s production suggests he get paid

Pelech-Pulock is an elite puck moving D pair, the issue was beyond that you had Chara holding back Dobson. If you put any decent two way D on both the 2nd and 3rd pairs you’ll see a huge improvement overall.
