With the cap situation that CGY is in, and the fact that Monahan was getting healthy scratched before eventually going and getting surgery (after playing most, if not all, of the year in a bottom 6 role), I don't see a team paying for him. I see CGY paying to move his contract or a cap dump for a cap dump type move where CGY gets another player in return who has lower potential ceiling than post-surgery Monahan but also makes less money to help CGY's cap situation.

With how much is up in the air with monahan and the cap bind the flames are in it would cost them assets to move monahan

No, unfortunately not. Still having major swelling in his knee and speculation is he needs another surgery. He himself said as of right now his knee won't hold up for a whole year and that he's aware he may Have played his last game ever. So he would be on LTIR.
