Description
Puljujarvi and Yamamoto get bridged again, McLeod gets a 2-year exactly like Holland's first Puljujarvi contract.

I don't like signing a 31 year old power forward for 4 years, but Holland isn't concerned with age so I wouldn't be surprised to see a 4-year (or longer) deal in order to keep the cap hit down.

If Keith retires, it triggers three UFA signings: Kulak to replace him plus Perron and Giroux.

Running a Kid line just because I can.

The defense is fast and good at getting the puck out of danger quickly, which has proved effective in the playoffs so far.

Why would Keith retire? Especially if they are going to the WCF this season? Would he not take another run at a cup? Kane likely chases more money elsewhere, there are more desperate teams out there that will look past him as a person and pay him.

Perron at $3M is a massive lowball offer given how good he has been past 3 years. Almost a PPG player.

Why does anyone retire? It's a personal decision and no fan has any insight into what Keith is thinking. He has won the Stanley Cup three times, along with two Olympic Gold Medals, two Norris Trophies, and the Conn Smythe Trophy. He was listed by NHL as one of the 100 Greatest Players of All Time and has a guaranteed spot in the HoF. What's he got left to prove?

I think Kane is looking for somewhere to settle his family. His GF just had a baby yesterday and he has never been as welcomed or as successful as he has in Edmonton. He's part of the family there already. Also, he's very likely to get a settlement from San Jose this summer as they owe him a pile of money. And there are a whole bunch of teams that won't want to risk having him around due to his reputation and past history. Is he willing to take a slight discount to stay in the best possible fit? Probably, but we don't know yet.

Yeah, but he's 34 this week and getting a 3 year deal. And if you look at his last contract (4 x $4M), it was signed after a similar season (nearly p/gp). And he was just 30 at the time. More risk on this contract due to age, so the term and AAV is slightly lower.

I as a Dallas fan would easily offer him $5M x 3. He's good enough for that. That $4M was also a low ball, but he obviously took a discount to stay in STL as he had become a bit of a traveler in the league and wanted some stability, being in 5 different teams despite only actually signing contracts with Blues throughout his career.

$3M just seems like a catastrophic low ball attempt to me.

I mean has there been any recent memory of a guy willingly retiring from a playoff team with a year left on his deal?? The guy is hardwired to win.

Hey, takes a certain group of people to root for a guy like that, sounds like Kane lucked out with the people in Edmonton.

It's low for sure. But it's in line with his last deal.

How many play until 40? We don't know what Keith is thinking, it's foolish to presume anything either way.

Likely. But no other teams offer the opportunity Edmonton does.

Apparently Keith is retiring, as per Pierre Lebrun.

I can't imagine you think it's a good look going back 2 months to try make a point... interesting take for sure. Strange thing to do.

Not at all. Enjoy the crow and perhaps modify your strong opinion on possible personal decisions of people you don't know personally in the future.

I frankly won't do either! No crow to be had. I currently have a guy coming at me from a conversation in May on a website about made up hockey teams who thinks he's dunking on a stranger. Tell me you have nothing to celebrate in your day to day life without really telling me. Well done kiddo!
