Hard pass from the Pens. Rather try to bring back Rakell for less, see Poulin play an NHL game before moving him and actually use our 1rst.

Fresh look on the trade. Value is probably a bit closer than most from Van fans. I’m saying no still but it’s a friendly convo and discussion for sure

Gambling on potential here. Miller is a sure fire offense boost. I honestly don’t think Lafrenier will be as good as Miller during his prime right now. Maybe I’m wrong and he puts up 100 points but I just don’t see that happening. The first and Hoglander are pieces the Canucks won’t even consider moving with Miller

What’s not close about it? Seems like the Canucks are being screwed over here. Giving up the best player by far along with a top 6 forward and a first round pick for two players based on potential

It’s best for both teams to say no to this trade. And Miller is too expensive to sign to an extension anyway which is the biggest issue in said trade. Copp may not be as good but is the better fit given the salary cap. Plus Schneider and Laf are on ELC’s and really cheap which is important.

Well, lets see.....both Laffy and Schneider are not available for trade, period and the Rangers could only possibly have Miller for 1 year, so as a rental, he isn't worth that much. I know you don't understand this, but that doesn't mean its not 100% true. Miller will never put on a Ranger sweater again.

Laf scored 17 5v5 goals, not on PP1, only his 2nd season. He will get 100 points or close enough on a consistent basis. JT was no where near Laf in year 2

I mean, that’s not really impressive. Hoglander had a better rookie year than Laff did this past year.

Hoglander had 26 5v5 points in 2021 in 56 games age 20
Laff had 27 5v5 points this season in 79 games age 20

Laff may be a 100 point player one day but it’s not likely imo based on current production rates

The point of adding nemeth to the trade is it opens up enough space for the rangers to afford a miller extension.

Hoglander has produced just as effectively as Laff has in the nhl but laff still probably has the higher ceiling.

Schneider is the big piece here but imo NYR is getting more value in this deal. The better draft pick, dumping cap, and of course an elite player to payer with zibinejad and Panarin

Hog was playing on the top 6 with more mins right?? Again, if you want to play the game of comparison on stats that’s cool, you can tell me how Petr Prucha had a better rookie season than anyone we have mentioned and then we can talk about his 3 year stint in the nhl.. I’ve watched both Laf and Miller as a NYR, Laf is better than Miller was. No question. But ya, today, putting a 30 year old up against a 20 year old for 1 season I’m taking Miller. Long term Laf over 1 season of Miller doesn’t come close. Huberdeau wasn’t padding stats in his first few seasons and playing top 6 mins, today his numbers are better than most. Huberdeau being the guy that Laf has been most compared to also. I wouldn’t continue comparing stats without watching a player in depth(not just 2 games against your team)

Hoglander’s 2.04 points per 60 in 2021 out paces both of Laff’s years. I’m just saying laff has not shown he’s going to be a 100 point guy. Miller becoming one is an exception, not the rule.

It’s an online forum bro. We can talk about player values and trade options even if they arent realistic. Doesn’t mean the value is off just because NYR doesn’t want to trade them IRL

Yes, you can live in fantasy land all you want. The Rangers will throw in Panarin with 50% retention just because.

You don’t watch him play. You look at scoresheets and make judgements. 🙄

If you actually believe that then there’s no changing your mind and you will just need to wait and see.. 🤷🏻‍♂️

This take won’t look good on you in the long run but if you do believe that then when take the gamble on a guy who you’re so sure is a bust or will never compare to JT and Hogs..

I never said he would bust. I said he likely won’t be a hundred point player. Big difference, obviously.

Hischier is not a busy but he likely won’t be a hundred point player either.

Ditto svechnikov, Dubois, eichel, Reinhart, Nugent Hopkins, hall, Seguin, etc.

Just because lafreniere went 1OA does not mean he is destined to be a top 10 player in the nhl

Not saying he is. But you’re suggesting Hogs will be better than him over the span of a career and that he won’t be as good as JT. I assume you’re not considering JT to be a top 10 guy. Laf over or under 100 points is going to be dominant like MacKinnon and Huberdeau are, I don’t need the title of 1 season over 100 points to consider him a superstar

No, I said hoglander’s rookie season is better than either season Laff has had, which is true. He scored more often, had better underlying numbers for driving xG and shot attempts, and did so despite playing on a worse team with worse players. This much is factual. However, I never said Hoglander will be better than lafreniere. In fact I said Laff has the higher ceiling. If I honestly thought Hoglander had a higher ceiling, why would I propose this trade?

JT was top 10 in scoring this year and that’s what I meant by top 10 guy. Sorry I should have made that more clear cause looking back at the comment it does make it seem like I meant top 10 player not top 10 scorer.

Regardless, it is unlikely lafreniere ever becomes either a top ten player nor a top 10 scorer.

There is no guaruntee lafreniere will turn into a Mackinnon or huberdeau. In fact, both of those guys were late bloomers and still had more productive seasons at lafreneire’s age.

He will probably turn into a decent top 6 scorer. I will bet he scores 30-40 goals multiple times given his ability to find space and his quick release, especially has he matured and gets PP1 time. However, even that is not guaranteed and there’s a chance he never becomes more than a 20 g 20 a guy. Canucks take on a huge risk with this trade as they get pretty much nothing guaranteed, where as NYR gets a top 10 scorer, a top 6 ceiling young player, and a top 15 pick.

JT miller is signed for 1 year I wouldn't give up Schneider 1 for 1 for him. We already had him he was a locker room cancer and terrible in the playoffs 9 goals in 78 games. Have fun with that extension

Ok. He’s an important leader in the Canucks room and averaged over a point per game in the 2020 play offs with the Canucks

You ever thought maybe he’s grew over the past 4 years?

Kinda like how everyone on this thread is expecting lafreniere and Schneider to grow?

The only difference is with miller you know what he is. You don’t have to hope he will develop….

No ones giving an asset like lafreniere and Schneider for 1 year of miller. Can have him for free in 1 years time
