Description

Feel like New Jersey has some of the most potential in the league. Not the most familiar person in the world with this team. Watched a few games this year and keep up with prospects and analytics a decent amount. Lot of young pieces with a few holes. Biggest hole is goalie. Next is a legit top 6 scoring winger although if you wait for development there’s a few in the system. #2 pick doesn’t hurt. Got lazy and had to stop procrastinating but maybe sign some other depth players. The trades also aren’t in order which was dumb on my part.

At 4th, you don’t have to make the choice. You either get a potential top pairing RD in Nemec (or jiricek) or you get a top 6 winger in Slaf. You also get draft capital in the stacked 2023 draft class. Would also trade down to Philly at 5th cause one of the D or slaf will still be there.

Another deadline deal you try and make. This one I thing you do even if you draft one of those top 2 RHD. Luke Hughes will be ready to step up and get a significant role plus you have 1000 LD prospects at the cusp. Give the kids a chance and get some good futures for Graves before he wants a raise. This is a placeholder- any team, maximum value.

I don't hate that return for Garland if the picks were in the 2022 draft, but I think the team would probably prefer a smaller package with a better RD prospect than Bahl.

For the record, I would be absolutely on board with that. I think Smith needs a change of scenery, and there is at least one member of the Vancouver Front Office that was involved in drafting him
