Considering that OT is a game of possession, having a strong Faceoff guy would be the most ideal. Someone like Aho, Bergeron, or O’Reilly would be the way I go. Moving to the dman, I would want someone who can skate on a breakout, but is responsible enough on the back check that can reduce the effectiveness of odd man rushes. Someone like Serg, Chychrun, or Pesce would be ideal. Then the winger, for me personally would be really good in puck battles, but can also fire a rocket if need be. Someone who is also responsible defensively and on the back check. Svech and Nino would be my ideal choices.

My lineup would be Niederreiter-Aho-Chychrun with Sorokin in net. Definitely an unorthodox approach, but I would put more value on possession, puck retrieval, and back checking capabilities before anything else. With this lineup, you get the best of both worlds.
