If Jets are going to blow things up, that's too much coming back from Sabres. Nate Schmidt`s contract is worth something, just to eat it.

That offer for Helly gets beat easily and Chevy wouldn’t add a cap dump onto him to lower his value.

So the 9th pick and one of the better Goalie prospects gets beat easily. Sure

Goalies are voodoo. Portillo is a great prospect, but has yet to play a pro game. There are more goalies who flounder at the pro game than who flourish. Whoever is picked at 9 is not making an impact for at least 2-3 years and let’s face it, is still a crapshoot. 2 magic beans for an arguably top 3 goalie is worth more than what you are offering, so yeah, sure, again, that offer gets beat easily!
Don’t get me wrong, I’d love to have both Portillo and the 9th, but Chevy would want some impact now players.
“If” Helly is moved I see a NJ/Blackwood(or Daws), Mercer base or Philly/Hart, Konecny base type deals.

I agree about Chevy wanting impact now players, but if you're moving Helly and Scheifele wanting out you are probably rebuilding or retooling so I think that's a pretty decent offer.

In addition to this there is no urgency for the Jets to make a goaltender move, as Hellebuyck still has two years left on his deal. Elliotte Friedman said on May 2nd, “I’ve heard as long as the plan is to contend that Hellebuyck is ok,” so the player if fine. That said, if the Jets are in the same state as they are in now in the 2023 offseason then that is a different story.

Hellebuyck isn't going to be moved this offseason. Elliotte Friedman on Hellebuyck’s future (May 2nd, Kenny & Renny Show): “I’ve heard as long as the plan is to contend that Hellebuyck is ok.”

I wouldn't move him, hard to find goalies like him, just going of this trade proposal

Cause every highly touted goalie has turned into NHL stars. Brian Finley, Al Montoya, Rick Dipietro were all highly touted prospects. What happened with them?

The jets could easily get a top prospect, or a young and great NHLr a first, a stop gap goalie at least for Helle, who won the Vezina three seasons ago, has played 70 games a season since he was a starter.

Helle won't be traded, but if he were to be and Chevy takes the call there is no deal unless guys like Cozens, Krebs, Dahlin are involved

I do believe cory Schnieder was traded straight up for the 9th overall pick and had comparable numbers to helly when he got traded

Well that’s fine because he isn’t worth any of those players. If buffalo were making a trade offer for Hellebuyck it wouldn’t involve a top 10 first round pick, you might be offered Vegas’s at best. If Buffalo offers the number nine overall pick for a goaltender it would be someone who is still young like Thatcher Demko, not that he’s available, but it would look like a Cory Schneider draft day trade. Whether or not you choose to see it Hellebuyck has begun to fall off, even if it’s through no fault of his own. He is only signed for two more years, and unless the Sabres think adding a goalie like him puts them not only in the playoffs but in contention they wouldn’t even bother making the call.

With Portillo's uncertain future and high likelihood that he goes the UFA route, Winnipeg says no.

That's the first name that popped into my head too. Of course that's the only name that popped into my head because nobody ever trades top 10 picks for a goalie.

Schnieder wasn't a Vezina winner playing 70 games a year when he was traded.

Helly wasnt a vezina winner this year, their numbers are very similar but I get why the jets wouldnt want to move him if they are planning a retool. If they are getting rid of scheif, wheeler, etc I would look into moving him.
