No, no, no to every trade. This makes me thrilled you’re not the GM. The difference between the player you can draft at number two isn’t that much better than the player at number nine in this draft. I wouldn’t give up number 16 to make that happen either. Only Bode Wilde is worth anything in the Isles deal, Forget the Flyers trade and the Oilers deal, both are awful for Buffalo. If they’re going to take JVR’s contract Philadelphia is paying for the privilege, not getting a good physical young defenseman like Fitzgerald.

Yes, I do understand what cap dumps are. Picking up useless multi year contracts is stupid when you have your own young players that need to be paid in a year or two. I would be more accepting if the players we are acquiring (and being paid to do so) are only one year deals.

Bailey doesn’t help us, Kassian doesn’t help us. Giving away Fitzgerald doesn’t help us. You can’t just bury any NHL contract you want, there is a rule about how many veteran players your AHL team is allowed to have. Plus you don’t want to take away ice time from younger players in Rochester. We are the team with cap space to burn, if we’re picking up cap dump single year contracts we dictate the terms, not the team praying we take on their bad contract. It’s not like they have too many places to go this off-season. Take them to the cleaners, give them only what you want to and not what they want. For instance, send Philly Bjork for JVR instead, keep your picks, and tell them to like it.
