I haven't read everything but you have to realize this :
Colin White with 1.75 AAV retention becomes a very positive asset (3.0 x 3 years)
Joel Armia with 3.4 x 3 years is NOT a positive asset.
Upgrading a 4th to a 3rd is useless for Ottawa at this point.

The reason I went out and got Armia was to get the pick for Ivan Miroshnichenko but also cause he can be really good when he is playing well and is a big physical bottom six player which Dorian likes.
We also have zero need for Armia (even if White is gone)
????????? - Stutzle - Batherson
Tkachuk - Norris - Joseph
Formenton - Pinto - Brown
Kelly - Kastelic - Watson
Greig, Crookshank, Gambrell, Lodin, Sokolov, Jarventie, etc will all fight to make NHL money.

Nah, Montreal ain't touching that.
Weird because I'd much rather have White than Armia. Even if he costs a bit more

They produce at the same rate and Armia is the better PK guy. He suits Montreal's needs better and makes over a million less than White per season. Not a hard decision for Montreal. White sucks too.
Need to do the maths before making this kind of statement
Last 2 seasons :
Joel Armia : 13 goals, 28 points in 101 games (0.28 PPG which is 23 pts per 82 games)
Colin White : 13 goals, 28 points in 69 games (0.41 PPG which is 33 pts per 82 games)
Sure, White missed more games but injuries at center eventually lead to moving Stutzle to Center. The kid who was still 19 y/o when it happened ended up with 51 pts in 63 games after the move (31 pts in the last 27). White is also better defensively and a better possession player. I have seen him play live many times and he makes a lot of these little details that coaches love but most fans don't even notice.
