I love Roy but that's a really steep price for a guy you're playing on the 4th line.

I agree but a young massive center is not something you find commonly around the league up for grabs. Winning teams have big guys that can play, especially down the depth chart. I really like what I am seeing out of Kidney but Roy feels like the type of player Montreal would need moving forward. The second might be an attractive piece for Vegas since they don't have their first this year as well. Roy also makes Dvorak potentially expendable down the road if Wright turns out to be the guy.

IF Price retires we don't chase Letang or Perron. Those are guys you chase if you plan on competing for the next 2-3 years not if you are starting a rebuild.

I like the idea of getting Nicolas Roy but Riley Kidney is really good in the Q. I'd do it if you switch Kidney with Mysak tho. The fact that we are probably going into a rebuild makes the signing of Perron not worth it. I could see Letang signing with us only if Petry is leaving.

I completely agree about Perron in terms of time-frame. I just find Suzuki and Caufield DEFINITELY need an upgrade for their wing and Perron fits that mold to me. Given his previous interest in the team before signing with St. Louis last time around, I wouldn't be surprised to see an offer thrown at him as a cheaper option to fill in the gaps. As far as Petry goes I have no idea at this point where they stand with him. The presser he gave gives me the impression he wants to stay but obviously we don't really know where he or management stands. All I know is that Letang is the exact type of puck-moving defensemen they need and is the only player of that caliber in UFA for the next 3-4 years that I find Montreal may have a reasonable shot at signing. Those types of players completely change your team. Having a Letang on our powerplay this year most likely would have won us many more games. If you really want guys like Caufield to really thrive on the PP, you need that point quarterback.

I suppose I am just unsure really of what Vegas's asking price would be for Roy, could be lower or could be higher. Kidney has had a great season in the Q right but so did Roy for his time there. If the price for a young, 6'4" 200 pound center is Kidney and a second I personally wouldn't refuse it. These types of guys are very important for the depth of contending teams.

No I completely agree with you on both Parron and Letang. All I was saying is that IF Carey retires (I don't think he will though, I think he takes next season to gage his knee and see how that goes first) but if he does then we may as well not chase either of them since we won't be in playoff contention. If he doesn't retire then sure let's go after both of them and see who we can trade away.
