I just dont think PHI does it. Koneckny is younger on better contract (term), and as much as some are dumping on him: on an offensively woeful team, missing both its 1st and 2nd line centers for half a season or more and Giroux gone for 20 games, Koneckny is still going to finish with 55 pts, is a pretty good year.

I just think age and contract (even with Miller retention) make it too much in VAN favour (moving up in draft to 4th), and REALLY the main reason I dont see it, is its possibly not in line with a PHI re-tool/rebuild.

Why do the non playoff Flyers (and likely non playoff in 2023) give up so much for a one year rental?

I think anyone trading for Miller in the off season will be doing so with the express aim of resigning him and will have conversations to that effect before making any such trade. If the Canucks don't trade him and don't resign him, the rental situation will be resolved at the TDL.

Well it better by more than conversation, as the Flyers wouldn't make that deal without an extension. I'm doubting the Flyers even make the trade anyway.
But I wanna be in the talk when Canucks management tells Miller....."We don't want you any more so hurry up and sign an extension with Philly."

Hard to say what the Flyers do, but they clearly have an aversion to a rebuild. Maybe that changes, maybe it doesn't.
That is a pretty naïve take on the situation though. These are all professionals here and everyone knows the score. Canucks management and Millers rep will obviously talk an extension, but if Miller is looking for significant $$ and term it is highly unlikely that will happen in Vancouver and this won't be a surprise to them, therefore a trade is inevitable. It certainly behooves the Miller camp to be open to negotiating with a prospective team if he gets to play where he wants and gets the deal he wants. This also ups the potential return for Vancouver. Win/win. Will it happen? Again who knows, but it is certainly more likely than unlikely.
