Not too shabby. The Dubi/Bogo trade is peculiar. Jackets get younger and save a little money and term on contracts, but lose the emotional leader of the team. Dubi's offense was underwhelming this year, so maybe this is a good move, but he'd have to waive his NMC and I'm not sure he'd do that.

It's clear the team was unhappy with Hartnell's late season play. With his age he is going to start tailing off in seasons, but if he can get off to a decent start next year they might be able to trade him rather than buying him out. I've been saying to trade Hartnell for a year now because his value was only going to decrease, and now we're looking at a situation where nobody is going to want to absorb his contract and if he doesn't waive his NMC then Anderson could get stolen away by Vegas. He should waive, but if he won't a buyout will be their only option.

The Wennberg contract is off, he'll either get a lot more money for a 6 year deal or only about 2/3 years for the 3.2 mil per season.

i'm interested to see what Leafs fans think of that trade. Kapanen seems to be a hot button topic when he's in trades.

Not interested in the Buffalo trade. Dubi will not put up a ridiculous amount of points but is very good defensively. We don't need a 5 mil a year player playing on the third pair. Toronto is interesting but I believe it would take more to get that.

From a Leafs perspective I don't see it happening. Kapanen is probably the Leafs best prospect not in the NHL and should be up for a full time job next year while still being cost controlled. We already traded Harrington away once and he is a part time NHL at best so I don't see the attraction from the Leafs perspective to have him as the +.

I appreciate that you did at least take the Leafs need for a RHD but with only two years left and 30 years old I think Johnson is at the end of is prime years. When I look at his advanced stats he looks to be a 3/4 guy. I think we would want to try and get a 2/3 guy or at least a solid 4 (who is younger) if we traded Kapanen, and particularly someone who is more on the defensive side of the game.

Maybe something could work around JVR with some retention on the Leafs part (or at least I think that gets closer to fair value) for Jack Johson but even then not sure if playing style wise there would be a good fit. I assume part of the attraction with Kapanen is the expansion exemption, is there another Leafs prospect that would interest you?
