Mikheyev is a very solid player as the Caps found out the hard way last night, but I don’t think a 5 year deal is a good idea for him, plus he’s much better suited in the middle 6 instead of on a full offensive line such as with a Ovi-Kuzy duo. A more ideal contract for Mikheyev is closer to a 3x3, tho I wouldn’t be shocked if he got closer to what you offered in the wild UFA Market

He’s fast and responsible 200ft. I think he would be great with them.

Ned isn't going to UFA, Yzerman plans on signing him long term this summer, He has a home in the Detroit area his wife is a nurse in the local Detroit area he isn't going anywhere.. Nedeljkovic and Cossa are our two goalies of the future.

He’s a very good two way and speedy guy, but I’m referring to more of the fit. As a Leafs fan watching him regularly, he has been at his best playing with guys like Kampf and Engvall. He’s been getting time with Tavares as of late but most of his offence hasn’t been through Tavares. He’s best with good forecheckers. Him with the train of a human himself Wilson could be very interesting, tho I will point out Mikheyev is more of a forechecker than a hitter

I don’t know what NJD’s other options would be for goalie, but this seems likely to make the consideration list.

Vanecek would be a good backup until Cossa is ready though. And you can never be sure if Ned resigns with us or if he decides to test the market.

Red Wings accept. Yzerman will take his time developing Cossa. We might not see him in Detroit for another 3 years.

I think this is a fair offer for Detroit and we do need a replacement for Greiss.

There is a problem though, in that our 3rd round pick will most likely be spent on a LD which is of greater importance to us than a backup goalie. It would have to be a pick in 2023 or a player going back instead. We have a LD prospect in McIsaac that has one year of waiver exemption left that can be spared if that would be of interest, then there's Erne or Oesterle if you want one of them with a lower pick instead.

That’s cool. Idk that about Ned. VV is still a solid 1b for him. Plus him and Vrana are close friends

Why wouldn't Ned resign back with us? His home is in Detroit his wife is a nurse in Detroit. He wanted to come home to Detroit and play for the Red Wings. He might leave after another year but it's doubtful.

I don't think he'll leave but you can never be 100% sure. I didn't think Bernier would leave either. One possible scenario is that he plays lights out and wants more money than Yzerman is willing to pay. Vanecek would be a good insurance policy.
