Probably some conditions on that 2nd round pick. Something like 'Becomes a 1st if Devils make the playoffs and Gibson plays more than 60% of eligible games.' I think that's around fair value considering Anaheim is going full rebuild. Ducks get younger and fill out their roster. They also have two of the best goalie prospects in the league. Devils probably one of the few teams that need and can afford to take that risk on a struggling goalie with that cap hit.

Wouldn't be shocked to see Gaudreau get that. His camps going to rightfully ask for Panarin money. Think teams are going to start at 8mil. Split the difference to 9.5. But even at 10 or 10.25, Devils should sign him.

Given that they're dealing a goalie who can be considered top10 or possibly even top5 one I think they want a guaranteed first coming in. You could drop Zacha and switch it to a prospect - Zacha has other interested parties after him after all.
