Final TDL move

I’m not a Flames fan but I’d love to see a Canadian team finally hoist the cup this year(let’s be honest it won’t be the Leafs).

Pelletier, I get it, there are high hopes for this kid as there should be. With that being said he won’t help the Flames win the cup this year unless he’s used in a deal to solidify this lineup.

Monahan has been atrocious 5 on 5 this year. He is a minus 14 on one of the best teams in the NHL, more than half his points come on the PP and at times he’s found himself on the 4th line because he hurts the team if he’s in the top 6. On top of all this his cap hit is over 6 mil. The Flames could use an upgrade at center, and some cap relieve and word is they are in the market for a 7th dman. So this is what I purpose:

Where Pelletier's value comes is that he's under 900K for 2 more seasons. Dvorak costs probably close to or a little more than what it will cost Calgary to re sign Jarnkrok instead and Kulak is a non factor. Trading the controllable piece for two pieces that don't drastically improve the line up doesn't help a ton when it comes to contract time for Tkachuk and Gaudreau. If Monahan is moved it will be in correlation with another move to get a big piece that really makes the Flames better, I just don't see it until the off season, he's too good in the room.

As a Montreal fan, i am sorry that for that post by a Montreal fan, Monahan alone would get Dvorak and Kulak and more maybe, Dvorak has similar stat this year as monahan being only 1 year younger
Kulak is a depth def, worth a 3 rd for a team with a sprecific need,(Not Calgary), Pelletier is going to be elite and Monahan is stilla 28 center that had over 1p/g in the past season

A) that season of Monahan’s you speak of was 4 seasons ago.
B) in the last 2 seasons Monahan has scored 50 points in the last 110 games putting him at 0.45p/g

Dvorak has the same stat, if not worst and never prove he could be better than 0.5p/g, and only 1 year younger, his contracty is also 3 more year instead of 1 for Monahan.

Dvorak longer (capfriendly) contract gives him more value than Monahan.

It depends on the team situation, if they are looking for a push this year or the next ( a bit lke pittsburg) monahan would fit better. but overall, I really think that between the 2, 90% of the team would pick Monahan

This article isn’t gospel or anything but just wanted to show that it’s not just me that thinks Monahan has almost no positive value if any due to his play the last couple seasons and his current cap hit.
