The 2nd might actually need to be this year's 1st but basically the Leafs get a defensive thinking dman who can easily play top pair minutes with Morgan and they get him for 1.4m next year too and he's only 26. Korpisalo...well, Leafs fans know him and what he can do in the playoffs.

The jackets take this opportunity to add another young piece to their defense and he's got lots of potential. Plus the pick for all the cash being held.

Gavrikov retained at 50% for this year and next is gonna cost Sandin a first and a top prospect to get the conversation started. You don't get a player as good as he is that can play 27 mins for cheap.

I'm not mad at this one, I'm just baffled. Gavrikov is one of our two defensive thinking D-men, and he's the older Russian who can help the rookies coming in (Chinakhov, Marchenko, Voronkov, etc). We're giving up a player we would absolutely DESPISE losing in Gavrikov in exchange for... Sandin and a 2nd for cash retention? You wanna do the trade for Gavrikov, 50% retained? Alright, fine, give us someone that can replace him AND a sweetener BY ITSELF.

I absolutely agree.
Gavrikov is an unknown beast of a player to most of the other fans bases (which is why I under valued him here), but the 2nd really should be a 1st and maybe even a 3rd in 2023 added, but sandin would be a huge get for our jackets. And within 2 years time he could be right up under Zach for us along with the rest of the rebuilt defense core(BEAN, BOQVIST).

But honestly, yes, gavrikov should not get traded but hey! We're just having fun here 😁
