Montreal wants futures that equate to a 1st + 3rd or 4th, this is not that, Habs pass.

maybe if def is supply shortage.

but on face value, chiarot rental is less than a 1st round and higher than a 2nd round.

hes a 30 - 50 overall future pick value at best

Umm Idk how you this politely but have you been living under a rock and/or understand absolutely nothing about supply and demand?

First off, Klingberg and Chychrun are most likely off the market. That makes Chiarot and Gio the best D men to pick up.

Second, there are reports by Friedman/Marek/Lebrun that at least 10 teams have called on Chiarot. And the Habs have clearly stated that his price starts at a 1st.

So how in any way anyone thinks he’s worth a 2nd or less is beyond me. You’d have to be extremely ignorant to the market and completely ignore social media to come up with that conclusion.

Counterpoint

If somehow was willing to pay a first he would of been moved already. Not saying someone won’t step up and do it by next Monday but the market can also be decided by the fact that the teams willing to move a first trade them elsewhere and Montreal has no choice but to take a second.

Teams gain cap space getting closer to the deadline which allows them to afford Chiarot at 50% retained. This also allows the Habs to invite teams to a bidding war.

Yes I understand that. Pretty sure most teams could fit him in at half retained right now. Not convinced you’re going to get a bidding war going for him. Just as likely all teams will wait Montreal out and they will have to take the best offer before the deadline.

Again someone could pay it. I’m reacting to the fact you called someone ignorant for offering holl and a second lol. Holl could be flipped for another pick at some point. It’s not that bad of an offer but could be beat yes.

It's been reported by trusted people that he don't get traded because the habs are waiting for the best EXTRA assets, the first isn't a maybe.

You guys are saying he hasn’t been traded because they are waiting for the offer with assets they want.
Ok fair, all I am saying is, it is possible they will not get that offer. It is also possible they will.
What if it’s 30 minutes to the deadline and no one has a first on the table for him? That’s all I’m getting at.

That'd not how bidding war goes, it's not like you can order from amazon another chiarot, every team who can fit him under the salary cap wants him

There’s only around 10-12 playoff contenders that have this years first to move. No way they all trade a first and there are other players teams would trade a first for as well.

AGAIN, it is possible they will get someone to pay a first but I don’t get the assumption that’s 100% gonna happen. Why does there have to be a bidding war? I’m honestly just confused at this point.

That's a higher possibility of getting a 1st plus than less than a 1st (a prospect worth a 1st will do too)
