In my opinion, this team as it stands now isn't good enough to be a serious Stanley Cup contender even if Byfield, Kaliyev, Moore, Grundstrom, Bjornfot and Durzi continue their development at the hoped-for and expected pace. A significant injection of quality is needed, and the most obvious place is LD. RW is a secondary concern, especially with Dustin Brown's retirement imminent in the next summer or two. The team shown is essentially the team we have now, minus Alex Iafallo but with Travis Konecny and Ivan Provorov. I think that these additions would put us over the top into actual Stanley Cup contention for the three years each has left on his ticket. (I think that we'll be able to talk Anze into one more for the road, too.) And the emergence of Kupari, Vilardi, Fa-ge-mo, Clarke and Faber (and perhaps others) should only reinforce that ascendance.
One can argue whether Philadelphia might be willing to trade Travis Konecny purely for futures, but I think that it's clear that a least one roster player will be required to obtain Ivan Provorov. In that light, I think that any trade by which we acquire the #1LD that we're looking for is going to cost us someone like Adrian Kempe or Alex Iafallo. I think that Konecny and Iafallo have equal value; once you get past that, I think that the three futures we're giving up (Andreas Athanasiou is a cap casualty because I can't bring myself to trade Olli Maatta, and AA may be slightly more use to Philly than Olli) are worth the exchange because I don't see any of them as critical to our future. And I could be persuaded that adding Lias Andersson or even Jaret Anderson-Dolan to the package might be necessary to close the deal.
I expect next season's roster to be almost identical, with the possible promotion of Rasmus Kupari and Gabe Vilardi from Ontario.
I would trade Kempe before I traded Iafallo. I don't think I'd be willing to give up Iafallo in this deal.
Apparently Iafallo’s analytics indicate he’s a middle 6 forward, elite defensively but offensively he’s a 3rd liner or 2nd line support. But he cannot carry his own line

Iafallo is the most underrated player on the Kings, if not one of the most underrated players in the league. Couple that with the fact that he's locked in to an incredibly team-friendly deal at $4M for 3 more years, and he's crucial to the future of this team.
My thinking here is that Konecny and Provorov both have three years left on their contracts too, while I'm going to sign Kempe for longer.
Depends on what kind of contract Kempe signs, I guess. If he signs a long term deal in the $5M range, then I can see that. If he wants $6M+ for 5+ years, then I'd keep Iafallo and trade Kempe.
I think this is pretty close besides swapping out Athinasiou for a prospect
He's in their for cap reasons. His hit is $2.7 million and you can see that I've only got a little over a million in the bank. But that problem goes away because he's a free agent at the end of the season (RFA if you want to re-sign him). I'd give you Spence or Grans for a third.
