Devils say no easily
Not paying a top 10 pick+ for Boeser
Myers would be playing bottom pair for the Devils. 5.5M is way too expensive for the Devils to be paying him

What about a 2023 first? Canucks don't get anything of value back if they don't get a first or top prospect

Tyler Myers is an awfully toxic contract. Thinking VAN deserves a 1st is crazy.

It's not really as bad anymore. He's playing quite well since Boudreau took over. And only two yrs after this one. He's not worth 6 but given the shortage of RD league wide, I'd argue he is worth 3-4 million. He's a better player than Subban currently.

late first, early second might be the difference.

I watched Tyler Myers get run over by Jack Hughes on that goal in NJ. The guy stinks on ice.

Can't believe I'm saying this but I'm not even sure Myers' contract is considered a liability any more. I'd still like to move it but I don't even mind keeping him. Unreal turnaround.

Oh, and as to your point about Myers being better than Subban....both stink. JFresh has Subban at a 22% WAR and Myers at 19%...but at least Subban's contract is nearly up.

Yup, I think they are similar. The reason I say Myers is better is just because when I've looked at models that weigh the last three yrs they're pretty equal. Where as Myers has actually improved dramatically the last 3 months. I was his biggest detractor. He's still limited but he's not a total liability now.

Anyway I was just pushing back that Myers contract is a total anchor. I actually think that narrative is changing, partly from his play and partly from the league realizing there aren't many good RD options league wide.

If you're going off one play I surely can't argue. He makes mistakes a fair bit. He is improved though. As I say probably worth 3-4 mil based on the last few months of play and the shortage of RD league wide. Also Hughes is one of the best offensive players in the league!

I'm certainly not going off of one play, but I just can't agree a team should be paying a RHD of Myers' calibre $4m even and be successful. I'd be absolutely FURIOUS if the Devils resigned Subban to that and they are comparable based on WAR . To your point about bouncing back, Myers is actually declining from 19-20 on JFresh's data to 20-22 (I guess he combines last season and whatever from this year), while Subban has actually...somehow...improved.

The key in the end where we won't agree is, I do not want Myers, even at $4m on my team. I'd rather go spend that on Lybushkin or someone that can actually be strong on the PK and be a defensive leader.

At the same time, why I have soured on Brock is that I actually fully believe in Dawson Mercer as a top 6 RW who has totally clicked with Hughes and I do believe in Holtz as well whom has been lighting it up in the AHL. The Devils management may not want to bring him up now for a lost season and would rather develop him in a winning system, which is fine by me. I don't want to spend on Brock long term, as I can only imagine he'd either take a 6yr deal OR just take the $7.5m QO and walk.

Agree! No need to move it, just in this instance it works.

Myers under Travis Green was an awful dman. Probably quite similar to Subban. I was his biggest critic. Hated him. Since Boudreau came on he is actually playing decent hockey. I never thought I'd say it. It isn't something I wouldn't expect a fan of another team to know. I don't know how good Subban is from month to month either. Anyway my pushback is the Myers is probably worth 3-4 mil the way he has played the last 3 months. I never thought it would have been possible.

You can rather do something else that is fine. I am arguing value.

That is a decent enough take and it's why Boeser is probably attainable despite being one of the better shooters and goal scorers in the league since he came in. If he hadn't been through his struggles this yr and if the Canucks weren't in a cap crunch he probably wouldn't be attainable at all. You probably sound out a long term contract with Boeser's agent before you make any deal.
