Next year with Forsberg

Description
Still think we resign Forsberg, not sure why we wouldn't. We have too much LD depth so I got rid of Davies because Farrance has more upside. We need a 2nd line winger. We either go get one in FA or ideally go after an RFA like Debrusk that we could get for relatively cheap. I think Debrusk fits in well. We give him a year deal to show what he's got and then if it doesn't work out we move on.

The biggest question mark on the roster is Kunin. I really like him but he just hasn't flourished here. Do we deal him? Or resign him short term?

For me, Tolvanen is a bigger concern than Kunin. Kunin has been better of late, and fits in better in the bottom six than Tolvanen does, if/when Poile upgrades Johansen's line.

Debrusk is playing awesome right now. The notion of lowballing for him doesn’t work, because the bruins would be better off just not qualifying him in the off-season.

That doesn't really make sense. If they aren't going to qualify him and they know he wants out, then why wouldn't they take picks/prospects for him when they would otherwise lose him for nothing?

Yea I meant $$$-wise. He will want a bigger contract than his last ($2.3Mx2) but hasn't really earned it. Tolvy doesn't bother me much because we are paying him $1.5Mx3 so even if he just ends up on the 4th line he isn't a big liability.

I could see Kunin signing a one year prove it deal this summer.

Um. Seriously?

The answer is to try to win. He’s played very well for the last two months. Good enough to earn a try out on the top line. He’s delivered with two goals, and an assist in two games. Do you think the bruins are in the midst of a rebuild or something?

If a debrusk trade isn’t part of a package to make the current bruins roster better, you can just go ahead and assume its a bad idea.

I think you missed the fact that this is a 22-23 roster. It assumes you trade the rights at the end of the season...

I kind of assumed it was a deadline deal, because otherwise it doesn’t make sense.

He either gets qualified, and likely stays, or he doesn’t and they just part ways.

Nashville calls up and asks about debrusk and they get one of two answers:
1. We’re qualifying him and keeping him
2. Ya, we’ll trade him — which means, “we’re not qualifying him.”

No matter what the answer is, the response from nashville is not trading for him.
