Probably because he only sees okposo's salary and doesn't realize how he has changed his game after the injuries or that he's on a 50+ point pace

What about Kappy for Drouin?

Well, unless the express purposes are to add toughness/shed cap this summer, it seems to me like a bad deal. Olofsson is a poor man's Hoffman (decent on the PP1, not so much on the PP2 and dreadful for the team at evens), and he'll probably want a raise this summer. Okposo is having nice rally season, but then he's a UFA. Pysyk (who I don't see as better than what you already have) has always been fairly meh to me, and he has looong stretches where he's a D-zone turnover waiting to happen (there are few things I hate worse, just FYI). For that you'd give up a '22 2nd, sell low on Kapi (who to me is the best asset in the deal) and ditch Zucker (who though he isn't producing like he should/can, the team plays pretty well when he's on the ice). And overall, it's giving up a loooot of speed.

I could be wrong, of course, that was just my initial thought. Even after thinking on it more closely, it still feels backwards to me. But I won;t pretend to be super plugged in to how the Pens are going right now.

Actually the value in the Buffalo trade is a reasonable exchange.
Okposo, Kyle ($500,000 retained) > Zucker, Jason Both production for this year and Kyle appears be a positive locker room influence.

No he doesn’t. They both have the same duration on their contract.

Zucker is also a very positive locker room influence so that’s not something he has over Zucker. At best it equals out.

Pysyk apparently also keeps the locker room light hearted, but that does not increase his value.
Let the Sabres keep Okposo then redo the trade for Pysyk and Olofsson.
