As a Bruins fan there is zero chance Detroit trades Larkin especially for a return like that

What’s Larkin’s ceiling? He’s not a 50 goal guy.
Detroit is still a couple years away from competing- Larkin has two years before becoming a UFA - maybe a deal gets done in the off-season.
If I’m Sweeney, I’m asking… if I’m Stevie Y, I’d entertain an offer if it blows me over. Look at what Sabres got for Eichel.

A couple of key differences, that you left out.

A. Eichel wanted out, have heard nothing about Larkin wanting to move
B. Larkin is a home town boy
C. He would be better suited as a #2 Center, but we have no #1 or #3 center.
D. Rebuild is in progress. Wings look better than last year, Will then win a cup in 3 years, probably not, but Bruins trending in the wrong direction and Wings trending up
E. Centers are not a dime a dozen, and with out a top center in pipeline not trading the only one we have
F. You do not have the pieces that could blow Yzerman away. Your top prospects will be off limits and Wings not taking back older more expensive players

So in short Bruins are not getting Larkin and your post is woefully short.

Larkin has a great shot at eclipsing the 40 goal plateau this year; he’s an established top 6 forward and captain.

If the wings were to trade Dylan Larkin (which they aren’t), it would be in a deal that nets them 3 or more top tier assets. That would include a combination of 1st round picks and top prospects. The red wings certainly aren’t Stanley cup contenders but if you’ve been watching any hockey this year, they absolutely are a playoff contender. As a wings fan, I wish they weren’t competitive (Shane Wright implications), but they are.

Also, people need to stop referencing the Jack Eichel trade in comparison to any other player. The guy essentially had a broken neck, an $11m AAV contract, and had a terrible relationship with his previous team.

We likely won’t see a situation like that again
