I do wonder if a deadline salary dump to buffalo (for an asset) was a wink wink part of the eichel trade.

Nah, olofsson is hurt, probably needs surgery. Nobody wants him as is, and we would be selling ridiculously low on him. Caggiula also hurt too, I think out for year as well.

In a vacuum the value is probably fair but I would imagine buffalo would rather not sell olofsson at his lowest value.

Plus all the value from the trade involves buffalo doing more work to trade out the other peices.

I think buffalo will be the team people call for cap relief but I would imagine or at least hope they get compensated for it. Doesn't make sense to help teams go all in for the cup for marginal profits.

If there is a deal with these players I could see Buffalo in the middle accepting a draft choice from the VGN to retain salary, but I do not see Buffalo trading away Olofsson who has nearly no value now and two injured players so they can broker deals.
Buffalo would need to pass on this as they could get stuck with players they do not want after the TDL.
