Description

The Wild add Copp for 2 draft choices not mortgaging a lot of their future, for the playoff run of 2022. Then if you let Copp sign elsewhere, trade Dumba for the best (picks or prospects can't take on any cap) you can get. You basically have 11.1M to sign Fiala and Kahkonen. Thats figuring 6M for the roster spots of (Rask,Bjugstad,Dewar,Sturm,Benn, and Goligoski). Losing Dumba and Goligoski hurts, but it's the only way to keep Fiala. Maybe even being able to resign Goligoski if the money for Fiala and Kahkonen is less. Addison and Rossi on ELC's and the other roster spots could be filled with what's left.

Jets will be holding out for a 1st for a 50% retained Copp. This would be a great fallback option but we'll be gunning for a 1st from a Cap straped team that has Cup aspirations.

Didn’t know a ton about Copp, but based on his player card and stats I’m not sure he’s much of an upgrade from Freddy and his defense makes me very nervous. Good passer, but I think the Wild should either trust what they have or go for a bigger upgrade at 2C rather than trade strong defense for another passer on that line.
