Hawks pass on this, not to mention if the intent is a top 6 LW'er, Kubalik would be a much better target for that role then Strome who has shown he is a center and not a winger.

Murphy just signed an extension last summer that starts next year; I can't imagine CHI trading him already. And if they do, they 100% won't be retaining

You know murphy is already re-signed, so theres no way CHI retains for the next 4-5 yrs, right?

Leafs have no cap or even intention of having Murphy at 4,4m X 4 next season. Not saying the Hawks do the deal either. Your post just shows how Cap Unfriendly it is.

Its only retention on his current deal. Leafs take the full 4.4 next year.

Exactly. So the Leafs pay Murphy 2.5m more next year, 3m more for Reilly. As I said, totally not doable for the Leafs. But really why do the Leafs need Murphy? Brodie, Holl, Liljegren and Dermot play the right side.

Muzzin has lost it and so has Holl. Lines would be, Rielly - Brodie, Sandin - Murphy, 3LD and Liljegren.

Murphy would be the carrier of the 2nd line with Sandin and can afford it as tehy move out Muzzin, Mrazek, and probably Kerfoot.

Whats the value on Murphy? cuz a lot of Blackhawks fans on this app seem to value him high.

So, that isn't how it works in the real world. Muzzin isn't waiving his NMC for a team that can afford his cap. Same with Mrzarek and the Leafs do need two NHL goalies this season, and probably don't won't to go into this summer with no NHL goalies on the roster. Why should the Leafs trade Kerfoot.? He's excellent value at 3.5, Same with Holl, good value at 2m

I'm constantly amazed that folks are so down on so many Leafs Dmen. Leafs have the best GAA in the Atlantic. Trading for a 4.4m Murphy creates more holes than it solves

All additional moves I listed are offseason moves. The Chicago trade will be the only deadline trade.

Muzzins NTC kicks is in 2023. He would be an offseason move and has regressed and is playing below his 5.6M cap hit and you have Sandin chomping at the bit.

Sorry bud, you're kicking a dead horse. Muzzin has full NTC now. HIs M NTC kicks in 2023. Besides what is the fantasy with 4.4m Murphy. Leafs already have Brodie, Holl, Liljegren and Dermot on the right side.

You don't watch much leaf hockey I take it. Holl, Liljegren and Dermot, do not have it to play shutdown minutes against teams top lines.

Sorry you don't watch Leaf games. Holl plays 20 minutes a game, and works big minutes on the PK. So it's obvious he plays big minutes against the top lines.
Will agree you that Liljegren and Dermot don't do it as much.
You seem to just make stuff up to try to win your faulty argument....starting with Muzzin and his NTC. Sure folks have different opinions but I only discuss with people who are honest in their thoughts. Bye.

The Hawks extended Murphy's contract so he is unlikely to be traded and definitely not going to retain on a trade for him. He's worth at least a 1st and if a late 1st then a prospect as well. His analytics aren't great this season but that is more a function of the team, who he is getting partnered with on the ice, and he's being put in the toughest matchups, but those that watch him regularly know he is a very good 2nd line #3 or #4 on most almost all teams in the NHL.
