problem w prospects ... Capitals ruin them 50% of the time. Vrana, Bura,Stephenson, Siegs , Boyd, LucaJo (looked good kemp is playing over him). i would rather get a great roster player than waste prospects during the Ovi era

I mean sure, if they decide to move him they’ll probably take a late 1st. But considering his age and contract, they don’t have a reason to, and this trade doesn’t provide enough surplus value to make up for that.

Hawks need to rebuild and dont have a 1st round pick in a draft thats projected to be fairly deep. Hagel is a 2016 6th round pick that is scoring at a .5ppg pace. (career). i dont see him getting much more than a 1st. Hawks likely will score a 17-22 pick for him... Capitals dont look like they are going to make a deep run

Maybe they do need to rebuild, but right now they’re positioned like a team trying to win. They traded for Jones and Fluery, those are win-now moves. If they’re trying to win, they’ll want to hang on to him. Even if they decide to rebuild, Hagel is young and cheap, they might decide to hang on to him.

"traded" for Fluery? he was gifted to them and he's a UFA. Kane and Toews are UFA next year,,, they can get a ton a valuable assets trading them and hopefully the can win Bedard in the next year lottery
