Not a Leafs fan, but you guys are one of the top 6 or 7 teams in the league this year...and you're likely going to have to face one of the top 3 or 4. Rough!

Welcome to the Eastern Conference, we've been complaining about this over in the Metro for quite a while. It's the ENTIRE EASTERN CONFERENCE.

The Western Conference is awful in comparison due to the heavy East Coast bias in the league, and the fact it's a far lighter travel schedule when you're in the Eastern Conference. They need to do something, either go back to the 1-8 seedings or realign the divisions, do something. The fact that the East has 8 of the top 12 teams in the NHL is just ridiculous. They've needed to do something with the Metropolitan forever, but if Florida want to act like a good team and the Atlantic is going to have real teams in it outside of the big 3, they need to fix the Eastern Conference.

I don't disagree, but if we're going for complete league parity (or at least conference parity), you'd have to almost abolish the divisions on each side, and play teams an equal number of times through the season. Honestly, I don't know what the right fix is though. I always felt like 1 vs. 8 (etc.) was more reasonable, but again, you're screwing the teams that play in the stronger division are getting screwed.

As a Ducks fan, in the pittiful Pacific, it's interesting, because likely going to at least compete for a wild card spot throughout the year. If we played the Central on a more regular basis though, we're likely a lot lower in the standings...a quick look vs. the Central right now (Might have missed something...) has us at 4-9-2, as opposed to 7-2-2 in our own division.
