So it's a problem if another center has slightly more offensive zone faceoffs (and is a great on the PK) but when it's easier for Matthews offensively/to produce against 3rd/4th liners/3rd pair Ds, that's fine

It's entirely a strategic choice. When you have a lot of good penalty killers you don't need your star blocking shots.

Or it could just because your stars aren't good on the PK.

Talking about team performance doesn't help your case with Matthews lol.

Difference is McDavid was still the best player on the ice at all times in the Playoffs. Matthews looked good but there's no comparison between him and McDavid. That's because nobody can be compared to McDavid right now.

Marner is not even in the same ballpark.
