The trades seem solid honestly. The contracts are a bit low-ball though. 5.5M is extremely cheap for a top 3 goalie this year and last year.

Unfortunately, while I'd be very happy with Mrazek to share the net with Jarry, the Pens don't even close to have the cap space for that move. Now, if you took Zucker back there would be something there, but as of right now there is no space. Also, if you do check the Pens' cap, that space will disappear once Zucker returns.

This is the stuff of nightmares. What a horrible Marner Trade.

They absolutely would find a way to get Marner if all it took was this. A defenceman who can't stay healthy with major term left and a guy doesn't matter for a top 5 RW is a huge win.

I like Ryan Ellis and all, but I'd be pretty disappointed if the most injury prone 31 yo dman in the league was the centrepiece of a deal where I'm shipping out a superstar 24 yo.

That puts them over the salary cap they only 6K left trading Ellis only cuts off 8M and Marner makes over 10M

The only way the trade works is for Toronto to retain salary

They could send another asset and move JVR or something to make some extra space. The point being getting a top end talent like Marner would be great for their team if this is all it cost to get him.
