Next Year There are Youths Everywhere

Équipe: 2022-23 Sabres de Buffalo
Date de création initiale: 8 janv. 2022
Publié: 8 janv. 2022

Description
Buffalo is in an interesting spot next year. Our forward group has a ton of NHL talent, albiet none of it has proven to be elite.

This team graduates all of Krebs, Quinn, Peterka to the NHL and prioritizes other younger players like Murray and Asplund

Minnesota literally has no reason to do that. Unless they think they'll always be down 3-5 forwards with injury, there's no reason to add another bottom 6 winger

hes on a 52 point pace. would be a good vet addition at a cheap salary at a time they are destroyed by the buyouts for Suter and Parise. Even with guys like Beckman, Rossi and Boldy on the team, you will need forwards.

Minnesota can retain their own talent and be just fine. Also, I don't care one bit for what Okposo is on pace for right now, not only will it be by far his best season since his first one in Buffalo, arguably his best if you factor in health, but he's also getting minutes that he just won't have a chance to get in Minnesota at all.

Paying a 2nd rounder and 1.5M for what's likely gonna be 20-30 points (of that, considering his injury history) is a terrible idea. In other words: find another sucker for this deal

Van doesn’t need to add sweetener. Subtract the pick and you have a deal

I'd try to sign Pysyk for 2-3 year at a similar cap and add troy stecher on a 1 year deal. He and Power were a pair at WC, played well together and Canada won gold.
I know hes been bad this year but maybe palying with power again could get him going.

Well u are wrong! Minnesota doesn't want or need wingers. He will be at best 4th line winger! Just because he's having 1 good year doesn't mean Minnesota need or want him

He doesn't. Since he signed with Buffalo on a horrible contract, he's missed a season with injuries, bad players, etc. He also already turned down returning to Minnesota. Again, you should do your homework on Minnesota winger because we are stacked and @ best He will be on our 4th line

1.) he has had multiple good seasons in buffalo

2.) he has not missed a whole season (speaking of doing ones homework, my god)

3.) he has excelled in a 4th line role and at 1.5 million it wouldn't hurt the cap.

Well again Minnesota doesn't need or want him! We have no room for hin! Good luck getting a 2nd round pick. You should do your homework because he did miss a season due to concussion or whatever health issues he suffered that landed him in hospital!

Let's see -- among goalies who have played at least 15 games, Jonathan Quick is among the league leaders in save percentage at 5v5, ninth in the league in both save percentage and GAA, and is having a better year than Cal Petersen.

I don't think we'll be trading him, especially for a future second-round draft pick.

He will be in the last year of his deal and will turn 37 during next season.

Fleury was traded for an AHL player after winning the vezina at age 36

None of which relates at all to Los Angeles' situation. Quick is having the best season he's had in half a dozen years and Petersen isn't Robin Lehner -- he hasn't proven that he can take Quick's place yet; even if he had, I'd rather keep Quick as his backup because I dimly recall one or two instances in the past few years that a #1 goalie got injured and had to miss a significant stretch of games. Plus there's this thing called COVID I've heard about that is going around. And Mike Smith had such a good year at 39 last season that Edmonton went to sleep on getting a new #1, and he was never half the goalie Quick was and is.

Well that's certainly an option although with the cap only going up 1 million it will keep you from improving your team. You'd also be one of maybe 4 teams to have 5 figure cap hits in net. Seems unlikely.

I don't think getting a 2nd for a 36.5 year old goalie making 5.8 million on an expiring contract in an almost flat cap world is anything to sneeze at
