Ehh, I'll be honest and say that I'd rather have Rasmussen than DeBrusk with how they're playing right now (plus Ras is a center), but the chance that DeBrusk reaches his former heights is enticing enough that I'd take it.

I think it could work for both sides joe v get to move back to center and Debrusk get top minutes. the only down side i can see if Rasmussen becomes a top line center

Not sure Rasmussen has the talent to be a top line centre, best bet is to see if he can stay as a 2nd line centre. It's a tough one because Jake with top minutes on a young fresh team can likely get him back on track (including a Wings coach who is good with younger players). There is some cap savings which helps, but this is tight given the huge gamble on Rasmussen and the way the Bruins have been utilizing Studnicka doesn't give me a lot of hope for Rasmussen in a Bruins uniform.

I don't think Yzerman would move Was after signing him to a 3 year deal. This just moves out a player who is 3 years younger for a player we hope gets back into his former shape. I'd switch out Debrusk with Namestnikov who is cheaper and playing well at the moment

Debrusk wouldn't get top minutes in Detroit. On the left we have Vrana (when he's healthy) Bert, and Fabbri. On the right we have Raymond, Zadina, and Erne.

Last season Detroit started grooming Rasmussen to be a shut down center and he has embraced it. Detroit's new grind line could be: Smith - Rasmussen - Erne

Fair but Vrana has what one full season without injury? Not to men Erne is't anything special, he fills a roster spot but lets not kid ourselves if you think he is a top 6 forward you are in trouble, same can be said about Zadina right now as he isn't developing as fast as his pedigree/projection originally was. He would get solid minutes on that young team for sure and looks on the Power Play as well.

Your absolutely right Erne isn't a top six forward hes more of a third line checking guy. Zadina stays in the top six even though he's not really on that level yet. Zadina has shown glimpses that he can be a amazing offensive player and he's only 22 so I would rather have Zadina getting more ice time. I think Debrusk should go somewhere he could get first or second line time maybe somewhere like Anaheim .

I still think he finds a fit in with the Wings - you are talking like Jake is 30 years old, he is only 25 with 250+ games under his belt and over 150pts as well. Not to mention 59 playoff games and 26 playoff pts. If the wing landed him they would find a way to for him to get ice time.
