This summer, Edmonton signed 8-year deals with both Nurse and RNH. Nurse received a huge payday that kicks in next season; Nugent-Hopkins got maximum term and a no-trade-clause in exchange for a salary that is lower than market value. Those two contracts were important for Edmonton because Leon Draisaitl's current contract expires at the end of the 2024/25 season, Connor McDavid's expires the following year, so the Oilers feel they have a 4-5 year window to push for a Stanley Cup. Its unlikely they will trade core pieces for draft picks. They might however trade their draft picks and certain prospects in order to improve their roster. I'm not sure Arizona has many players the Oilers would be interested in and able to fit under their salary cap. From a fan's perspective, Lawson Crouse could be a nice add for the Oilers, but he'd be in tough to crack the top nine because Hyman, RNH, and Foegele make up the top 3 LW.
