1.) Scuderi for Foligno: Buffalo needs a vet LHD. Scuderi was passable in Bylsma's system prior to his injury. He has no place in the Pens current system. Foligno is the odd man out in Buffalo.
2.) Ducks need a LW. Kunitz has been declining, but can still be useful. Pens need cap space and can replace him internally.
Finish by signing Franson in the 4.25 million/year or less range for around 2 or 3 years and you have a contender. Could also afford to add another right handed D. Would Buffalo really trade a player for Scuderi? I'd take nothing for them to pay that contract.
Would Buffalo trade for Scuderi? Would Scuderi accept a trade to Buffalo? I don't know, really. I know they need a vet LHD, and Byslma is certainly familiar with him. He's not as young as they'd want, but he could fit into a mentoring capacity while being serviceable on their bottom pair. Foligno is being pushed down the depth chart, for sure, and has been mentioned other places as being potential trade bait. Scuderi for Foligno makes sense, at least on paper. But, have to agree, I'd take a dilly bar for Scuderi at this point
As for Franson, I'm kind of on the fence about him. I like his offensive skill set, but his skating is a real concern. I wouldn't mind finding a RHD for the second pairing and pushing Cole down to the third, but I'm not sure Franson is the right fit for the team's system.
If Scuderi is of any value, wouldn't thePens keep him? Seemingly he is overpriced, the same reasons Hawks Bickell, Leafs Phanuef can't be moved. Another player that Pens fans seem to want to move is Kunitz. Kunitz would have trouble cracking the top 3 LW in Ainheim....Maroon, Hagelin, Skraj. Maybe at trade deadline time. Sorry the Pens are stuck with their
