There are some young players hitting free agency that would br great pickups
Trocheck isn't signing for 5.5m. He will get quite a bit more in the open market. And it sounds like the Penguins have already put a qualifying offer in for Kap so he is sticking around.

Kane and a Switcheroo
SJ is going to have to pay heftily for GM's to take Kane or buy him out in the offseason...
There is too much risk of him ruining his own career with his next stunt or destroying a locker room.
Max retained at 3.5m, picks plus kane for zucker is all I would offer from a Pens perspective. Otherwise the risk isn't worth it.
SJ is in a tough spot with him. They're not going to get out of it easily.

If PO wont play trade him for help
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>pharrow</b></div><div>don't really want McCann back, they sent him out to clear cap for a reason.
I don't get the "won't play" part. It's not that he won't play, it's that he got his ass benched. AKA he can't play.
I agree they should trade him, but that's because he's over rated. More of the media obsession of him than his actually ability to play hockey.
I'm sure someone out there will over pay for him. So they should ship him off and let someone else bench him.</div></div>
The kid's barely played and he's only 22. You wouldn't give him another chance to play the 3rd pair for league minimum?

why do the pens need a 5th LD? and losing two LW. They have no more LW options lol.

Perfect Offseason
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Blynasty</b></div><div>ANA certainly isn't adding a pick here. I think you need one more big piece on the Penguins side. Zucker has both pros and cons for ANA so there really isn't much value there. He offers scoring now, but they need future scoring too. Probably 2022 1st round pick and top offensive prospect (Poulin) makes the most sense without touching a roster forward, besides Zucker.</div></div>
Puustinen is one of the better prospects in the Pens system right now.

DeSmith and Gruden add absolutely nothing to this deal, so really its DeBrusk + 6th for Pettersson</div></div>
I'm not sure why DeSmith adds no value. Cheap goalie with good stats to back up Swayman, who could very well be your starting goalie next year. I think saying absolutely no value is wildly inaccurate.
I agree that Gruden adds little, but a prospect nonetheless.

terrible idea to trade away an entire 4th line for a bunch of ahl/nhl fringe players. zohorna still needs time to adjust to the smaller rink.

Pens trade Devils
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LetsGoPens69</b></div><div>I thought, NJD has way more forward prospects than D prospects. Especially RHD like Marino.
Ty Smith(21)/Marino(24) and Butcher(26)/Severson(26) is a really good and young top 2 pairings. And Marino is signed long term. Zacha needs a new contract after this season.
You have to give up something to get something. I don’t see the Pens trading Marino either.</div></div>
Let's be honest. We really don't know what Hextall/Burke are gonna do, other than keep the core together & they want to get bigger. That's all we know lol

Malkin is soon to be a UFA....why on earth would you take the Bobrovsky contract....even at half price until 2026 is a terrible idea.
Not to mention, how are you replacing Malkin's value to the team with that deal? A goalie isn't going to replace his production. Especially a goalie made of swiss cheese.

Compher for Jarry
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Richard88</b></div><div>Please try to read the trade description, where I specifically said: "by moving Jarry they open up a roster spot to go after a starting goalie." Obviously Pittsburgh wouldn't move Jarry without bringing in another starter.
Mackinnon to DeSmith is WAAAAY more different in value compared to Jarry and Compher.</div></div>
The trade is bad. Would never happen. Why would they make this deal and then immediately give anyone with a "starting goalie" an edge in a future trade?
Quoting: Richard88
If Pittsburgh want to upgrade in net it might be prudent to move Jarry, particularly as his stats this season are pretty pedestrian:
0.909 sv% (30th among goalies with 500 mins played)
2.86 GAA (33rd)
0.53 GSAA (29th)
0.796 (31st)
He has a .923% in his last 16 starts. He had a horrendous start to the season but has rebounded right back into starter form. Trading him would be a mistake.
^^^ like he said. Jarry is the starting goalie & it is just as insulting to trade Jarry for Compher as it is Mackinnon for DeSmith.

You didnt realize Desmith was a full time starter for portion of last year... Maybe why he was a healthy scratch.....</div></div>
