I think you seriously overvalued Toffoli here, or maybe it was Kulak, nope it was definitely Pacquette lol. Montreal says thanks either way then changes their number.

Here is how bad that Habs trade is for Calgary

Toffoli - Monahan could be argued as fair value

Paccquette will be lucky to be claimed off waivers

Kulak at most costs a 4th

Poirier was a 3rd rounder but had a 3 or 4 D man ceiling

If you want to overpay that badly the Habs will oblige but you would be fired before you got off the phone with the NHL to finalize the deal.

i'd say the canucks are pretty set a LD for the foreseeable future with Hughes, OEL, Rathbone and Jurmo. RD is where we really struggle. you got any RD prospects

Naw we are pretty weak RD as well. Only one of note is Jake Boltmann but he doesn't have a very high ceiling though. Poirier is going to be a total stud though

Definitely an overpayment for Toffoli, Calgary also doesn't really have the center depth to replace SM right now. (Ive seen some argue that any 3rd line center can replace him but thats only replacing him at his worst possible play, which doesn't actually help improve the team at all).

I personally would aim a bit higher. Think like when Calgary traded out Iginla to Pittsburgh. Go for a game changer vet like that. Ie Toews, Kopitar, Pavelski, Giroux, Malkin.

Maybe I overvalue Miller but I think he can slot in at 2C and play really well with the like of Mangiapane. I also like him because he fits the age of the other core pieces we have.
Definitely don't want guys like toews, kopitar with their cap hits they have next year.

I dont have an issue with Miller and I actually like him a lot, I just don't see a scenario where Vancouver ever trades him to Calgary without an absurd overpay
