I was reluctant to think so before, but Chiarot would hold down the top pairing for a decent chunk of games, and then stop Keith/Russell from getting overworked and inevitably banged up rolling into the post season. The regular season benefits, plus the playoff shut down experience he brings, makes this trade worth it now, imo. Especially since, if he can help keep the defense afloat and games winnable through this injury stretch, that 1st should still be in the mid to late 20's by the end of the season.
Hey want ACTUAL proof that Montreal's D was far better than Prices impact in the playoffs? See the graphic in the link below and focus on the caption that reads "MONTREALS DEFENSE SINCE GAME 4 VS LEAFS" then look at the stats
Slot shots 11 per game ranked 1st in playoffs
Inner slot shots 4.4 per game rank 1st in playoffs
Rebounds 1 per game rank 1st in playoffs
Expected goals per game 2.05 rank 2nd in playoffs
Goals 2 per game ranked 2nd in playoffs
I love how you've just basically just whittled yourself down to "montreals defence!" Instead of chariot because you know he was terrible in the research youve done and you still give numbers where more than half your points can 100% be explained ny the words 'carey price'
How does Price reduce the number of slot and inner slot shots? Sure he has a hand in rebounds (only in terms of how many he gives up but he doesn't determine how many are cleared away by the D), expected goals and goals but unless he leaves the net to block shots or clear guys away from the front I don't understand how you can claim that he had a hand in it!
sure thing bub, you keep reaching for that boat anchor
By the way did you happen to see who wrote the story I shared? It was Sportsnet, the biggest Leafs Homer's on TV. They saw how good the D was and gave props where props were due. Time for you to stop being such a Karen and admit you were wrong.

you'll notice i said more than half, so three of the five 'stats' you pulled, which is more than half.
You cant just make up the info about him clearing rebounds with hand waving magic and you have no stat to say he did it and you cant just cite team stats and say that he did that too, another poster literally gave you the relative numbers above and it is increadibly clear that he was being carried by the entire rest of his team and mostly price. Dude was the weakest link in the chain out of anyone who got significant play time by far.

hahahahaha, oh your one of those types who think that sportsnet is leafs homers, that explains a lot.

Sports net will dedicate a whole 30 minute show to O'Neil and McClennen talking about the Leafs but only casually mention any of the other 6 Canadian teams in passing. So yes they are most definitely Leafs Homer's.

it's almost like the leafs are the most popular team in the country by a wide margin and they play to the audience. That's not being a homer, that's just called supply and demand.

Really, of course you are going to say that. When was the last time you saw even a ten minute segment on any show on Sportsnet dedicated to ANY other Canadian team? It's all Toronto all the time.

all the time? like literally all the time? Hell, they spent more time talking about Cole Caufield during the season opener than they did about the Leafs. Like, this is a very very common thing. Im starting to think you just like to complain about the leafs more than you do cheer for your own team, because clearly you focus more on the stuff about them than anything else.
