regarding if he would waive. if this is after july 1, its an 8 team no trade list. bishop is american, who knows what those teams will be. he would certainly play in buffalo if healthy.

    Détails additionnels:
I have no idea what his value is. He hasn't played at all this season or last season. Dallas has cap problems and already has 2 goalies. Not sure how hard it will be to move a 4.9 million salary in this cap world without having to give it up. If i am way off, so be it. its just an idea.

With Bryson kinda blowing up in how the league sees him I'd bet he goes for a one year deal or tries for a Brandon carlo style 2x2.8 but either way yeah

Carlo had played 82 games, 76 games, 72 games, 3 full NHL seasons playing major minutes (avg 20:44, 19:14, 20:55 per game those seasons). Before signing his 2nd contract. Thats 230 games.

If Bryson plays every single game this year he will have 120 games.

He has been a nice surprise, but I still think hes a 3rd pairing guy on a good team who can play PP2

These goalies are not credible. What's going on with Bishop? Can he still play? UPL has mainly fought in the AHL, so far it is difficult to believe that he will be able to be the NHL goalie next season.

No reason for the Canucks to give up an asset to move a guy who has no impact on the cap

If the sabres are gonna weaponize cap, this isnt the way to do it. Im thinking teams against the cap with short term cap dumps for higher picks. Or facilitate a trade by retaining. Also, will butcher has been awful, i wouldnt use his deal as any kind of template, he hasnt been a pleasant surprise that we got paid a small amount to take, hes been awful. Not that every deal structured this way has to go bad, but if no other teams find positive or neutral value in a player, it says something too.

Goalies are also a problem now, but I'm not sure if injurys Bishop and UPL, which struggling in the AHL, will be better. Adams needed to solve this problem last season, when Hutton was the backup of traumatic Ullmark. Now he's signed 40-year-old Anderson, who didn't play a bee last season. Anderson showed himself well, but Adams could not help but understand that a 40-year-old goaltender who is almost retired is not the most reliable thing in terms of health and how many games he will play. Dell was definitely superfluous, and instead of him it was necessary to find a more competent goalie.

I'm no capologist but I do think losing Ferland would mean we can accrue cap space up to the deadline. If you're using LTIR space, you don't accrue (again I could be wrong).

Of course we only do this if we're planning on buying at next years deadline which looks doubtful.

For the Stars, the ideal scenario is that Bishop is healthy at some point this season & that the Stars are able to offload Khudobin this offseason (Holtby is a UFA after the year). This allows Oettinger to be the unquestioned #1 goalie (which he should have been to start this season) & Bishop to take a significantly reduced role as Oettinger's backup. That does 2 things for Dallas: 1) Makes the best goalie your #1 & 2) Preservers Bishop a bit, due to the reduced workload

In regard to the cap situation, Dallas actually has quite a bit of cap space this upcoming offseason with the losses of guys like Pavelski & Radulov. Dallas has the space to sign their RFA's to good bridge deals, offer Klingberg something crazy like $9.5M per year (obviously don't start negotiations here), and still have a good chunk of space left over.

All that being said, Nill and Bowness seem to have an inexplicable love for Khudobin. If they elect to keep him here instead of doing what's best for the team and trading him then I could certainly see them trying to move Bishop.
