If mtl gets a top 5 pick and draft a defenceman, I will loose my sh*t

He is very good but if the Habs are drafting that high they need a point producing forward like Savoie or Kemell. Maybe even Brad Lambert if they drop in the lottery a bit. Their need for a 70+ point forward is much higher then a dman unfortunately

its not a matter of how good Nemec is, our current prospect pool is d heavy, and our foward group lacks any real scoring threat outside of caufield who is barely still a prospect, if they have the chance to draft a potential game break upfront that needs to be the direction they go.

We honestly don't have the same definition of HEAVY D prospect pool.

Norlinder is a projet. He shouldn't be playin NHL tonight. He didn't prove anything in training camp and he was invisble in Laval. Bad management again from the habs.
Guhle is a sure shot.
Harris, will probably don't sign with the habs lol.
Struble is a decent prospect.
Romanov will probably be at at best a 4th defenseman
Fairbrother at best a 5-6.

You missed Mailloux, Brook, Belpedio, Xhekaj, Scheuleman, Sobelov and Trudeau who all are projected to be in the 4-7 D man range. So you have the 6 you mentioned and 7 more that I mentioned plus some others not worth mentioning and I imagine we will take 1 or 2 more at the next draft. So 13 right now with NHL potential + a whole slew of AHL D men + future picks. We are definitely D heavy in the prospect pool. Look at our forward prospects though who do we have that will put up 50+ points? Caufield and Farrell, after that you have a bunch of middle or bottom 6 guys in Ylonen, HP, Tuch, Kidney and Vejdemo. We need some good top 6 forwards. We should be trading now to get a couple more 1sts this year from teams who are on the outside but still within reach of a playoff spot then hope they fall flat and give us a better pick.

Just what you listed, which is not even the full list, blows away the forward side thats filled with middle-bottom 6 fowards.

Also have no issue with Norlinder being in tonight, been watching our d make bone headed mistakes all season so would prefer to watch norlinder taking meaningful minutes and learning, then watch wideman make the same mistakes anyways. This season is already basically a wash so why not take stock on what you have and have more information to make the moves that need to happen over the next year or two.

Damn i didnt think my comment would spark such a huge debate lol. Im sure Nemec will be an excellent dman but there are so many defensive prospect in the habs system that in 5 years they could have six dmen who were drafted by mtl playing for them and still have a solid defensive core. And on top of that we will still have petry hoping that he is just in a funk this year and will break out of it.

I dont think you can say the same for the offence and they shouldnt pass on the opportunity to pick a potential point/game player that you find in the top 5.
If its a pick outside the top 5 then i wouldnt mind if they picked Nemec.
