Quoting: yikes
Been a while since I agree basically entirely with a (larger) post. I would personally do;
Dahlen - Couture - Meier (If it aint broke dont fix it)
Eklund - Hertl - Pavs ( <3 if he could actually come back)
Both lines could be our first line on a given night^
Balcers - Bonino (keep him)/ Weatherby - Barabanov
Leonard - Weatherby/ Bonino - Viel (or another rookie)
Ferraro - Burns
Middleton/ Knyzhov - Karlsson
Knyzov/ Middleton - Merkley
Hatakka
Hill/ Reimer
Thanks! I am in agreement with your idea on the lines as well, there is going to be a little fluidity in the lines as guys step up in camp and I would assume one of the prospects I have in the minors forces their way into the lineup. the only issue with keeping Bonino is we would have to run with a 22 man roster or we would end up over the Cap and I like him but offensively he just does not fit well in our scheme.
If Vlasic retires in the offseason we would be golden! but I don't see that happening and I don't want to buy out a guy with 4 years left on his deal so he ends up our 7th D amn and a scratch most nights barring an injury.
another idea is if Knyzhov isn't the same player when he comes back from injury we look at dealing his rights in the offseason and look ad Kinazev or Hatakka making the opening night roster, they both look close!
the biggest thing about this lineup that makes me excited for our future is we are starting to have some options and players are starting to force their way in and making us look at difficult choices (like the Gambrell choice we had to make)
we also have more prospect who will be NHL ready sooner than later who will have to fight really hard to make the lineup instead of being given spots and that's is a great thing to have on a team.
Oh and your top two lines I kind of prefer over mine, but I'm banking on Pavelski and Couture's chemistry together and using them both as mentors to Eklund.
but at the same time find it really hard to break up Couture Dahlin Meier, I don't think that line has had 1 bad game together this year.
