So they say. There was definitely a lot of cap money on IR with Schenn, Krug, Husso out but I bet they could've made it work if they really wanted to. Either way, the fact that they called up Rosen to fill in as the 6th D and he was forced into big minutes shows that there really is a problem. Need way more out of Scandella, Parayko, and Faulk.

Looks like those guys will be back, then there will be one more decision point when Sunny is ready to go.



Yeah, he's little but his gap and NZ play is very good which should cut the time that he spends trying to shove guys around in his own end. I hope they pair him with Parayko, lots of synergy there and Colt-Scandella has been brutal lately so he could use a spark. Getting Krug and Perunovich in the lineup is going to be a huge boost to the defense, even if neither of them are stay-at-home, defensive guys. Everything just needs to be cleaner, not bigger/tougher.

As, I have been saying...teams need at least seven, probably eight NHL competent Dmen to make it through the season.
I see so many Leafs trade...who are carrying seven competent NHLers, where CF trades want to trade one, and have an unproven and probably incapable AHLer as the seven Dman...who eventually will have play minutes in the NHL.

Yep, the need is bigger than ever with Covid protocols forcing guys out without warning and giving no cap relief (and no taxi squad). I knew the Blues defense was going to be a weak spot going into the season but I'm excited to see what Perunovich can do with his opportunity. He's leading the AHL in scoring as a rookie d-man, and the NHL squad desperately needs someone to give them a boost.
