i dont hate the trade.

chiasson is a certified beauty on the PP. Loved him on the pp as an oiler, we used to say he made 1 mil for his 5v5 play and 1 mil for his pp play.

trono could use him on the pp

I don't mind this trade. I don't think the Leafs want to trade him away for just a draft pick. Having a player or in this case 2 depth players to add depth and grit isn't a bad swap, especially if they aren't taking on more cap.

schenn can fight if you need and he's much better as a 7th D and chiasson is a net front presence on the powerplay

Leafs aren't trading Holl unless that get a better NHL Dman in return. If Schenn are Holl are comparable, don't know why Canucks would do this trade.

Leafs don't really need Schenn to fight, but a bit more grit in front of the net would be nice for a change. I assume if there's anyone that needs their face punched that Wayne Train would handle accordingly.

I would have agreed a week ago, but apparently Leafs don't want any of Holl, Dermott or Liljegren sitting as a 7th Dman. Sinks Dermott or Holl's trade value (and they make for expensive 7th dmen) and Liljegren needs to play. I think what's proposed here is realistic. Schenn makes more sense as a 7th (both in terms of ability, and cost).

It's also better to make this trade soonish, before they're backs are against the wall when Mikheyev gets close to returning.

And if if they accrue enough caproom and any of the young dmen aren't looking great towards the deadline, then they can look for a rental upgrade.
