Agreed. COL probably won't give up Newhook. Bowers seems to be a bust, but who knows. Regardless that 2nd needs to become a 1st. If that simple change is made we're closer to a fair deal.

The way I look at it ZAR is worth a 3rd and Rust, especially with retention is worth a 1st + good prospect. I'd do Samp Raanta.

Sure looks ok for colorado but not for Pittsburgh. Pens won’t take anything less than a 1st and good prospect for rust with retention. Add ZAR and that’s another 3rd. Pens would rather risk losing rust for nothing and trying to extend him then trade him for a such a weak offer tbh. And pens can easily get more than that from other contenders.

Right now he is worth a 1st and a good prospect. Why? Cause of what he has done over the past couple years. You don’t make trades with the assumption the player is going to fall off. If he does anything in the range of .5 ppg or better he will get at least a 1st, if not more. With how little his cap hit is for a top 6, he will have 10 other teams, possibly more, fighting for him which will drive up his return. As for ZAR, a 3rd is right on target of where he should be. Being we’d be sending him to a contender, it’s a low 3rd. He is a fantastic bottom 6 winger that is one of the best defensive forwards in the league.

yea not giving a 1st and good prospects for him now. it would be a deadline trade after having a good season. if he's only doing .5ppg i wouldn't give up a 1st, that's 2nd+ material.

Well clearly you enjoy being completely wrong on both players because you don’t know either player. Pens aren’t trading Rust for less than a 1st. He is comparable to Blake Coleman. A top 6, does everything, great defensively, good offensively, willing to throw the body, grinder. ZAR is easily worth a 3rd. If the avs don’t want him, then fine we keep him, but he is worth a 3rd nonetheless.
